Steven Wang: On one hand, due to the limited capacity of Amazon’s FBA warehouses, many Amazon sellers face difficulties such as "difficulty booking appointments and warehouse acceptance" when they need to replenish their stock overseas during peak seasons. As a result, many shipping containers that have already arrived at the port must first be stored or transshipped to third-party overseas warehouses after clearing customs. Then, small batches of goods are replenished to FBA warehouses through the third-party overseas warehouses in multiple frequent shipments.
On the other hand, the booming semi-managed model has driven many factories to stock goods in overseas warehouses. As more and more goods are stored in overseas warehouses, the sale of goods in one warehouse across multiple platforms and channels will become the new normal in cross-border e-commerce. In this context, cross-border e-commerce is increasingly resembling local e-commerce in overseas markets, or what we can call "overseas distribution." This means that these goods need more sellers to distribute them.
For some sellers who are good at traffic operation but do not have their own inventory, starting with existing third-party overseas warehouse stock and obtaining some trade-type distribution will become a very good development direction. Therefore, the future development of overseas warehouses is a favorable development for small sellers with a light business model.
Currently, many e-commerce platforms are building their own warehousing and logistics systems, but the development stages, speed, and scale of their warehousing logistics cannot keep up with the growth of platform traffic and seller enrollment. Moreover, standardized warehouses on e-commerce platforms cannot provide customized fulfillment services for all types of sellers and are often constrained by official warehouse capacity. As a result, not all product categories are suitable for entry into platform official warehouses. For example, large items or those requiring special storage conditions are better suited for third-party overseas warehouses.
In conclusion, we believe that third-party overseas warehouses still have significant growth potential, and more and more goods will choose to enter third-party overseas warehouses. The fulfillment model of platform warehouses and third-party overseas warehouses will coexist for the long term.
