Introduction:According to the Ministry of Commerce, the total merchandise trade between China and Canada reached CA$128.6 billion in 2022. China is Canada's second-largest trading partner, second-largest source of imports, and second-largest export market.

On November 5, 2023, the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE) grandly opened at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. General Secretary Xi Jinping's letter clearly defined the significance and direction of hosting the CIIE: China will steadfastly promote high-level openness, making the vast Chinese market a market shared by the world, and helping to promote the building of an open world economy to bring win-win cooperation to the world.

This CIIE consists of two main sections: the National Pavilion and the Enterprise Pavilion. The 72 exhibitors in the National Pavilion each integrate their respective national characteristics, traditional cultures, and modern technologies, vividly showcasing the advantageous industries and investment environments of their countries. In the Enterprise Pavilion, more than 160 executives from nearly 100 multinational companies representing 18 countries are participating, experiencing the vitality and opportunities of the vast Chinese market.

1. Beauty in Diversity, Sharing the Beauty Together

With the outbreak of the cross-border e-commerce industry driven by the pandemic, the rapid development of the cross-border e-commerce logistics industry has ensued. "Made in China" has also entered various parts of the world, with China exporting more and importing less, which has become a major pain point for the transportation industry.

However, with the convening of the China International Import Expo (CIIE), countries around the world have seen a more open China market that is willing to share with the world. In the future, specialty products from various countries will continue to enter the Chinese market, resolving the pain point of uneven transportation in the industry.

Logistics serves as the barometer of the economy, and cross-border logistics serves as the barometer of the world economy. The convening of the CIIE will inject vitality into the recovery of the world economy. Through more than 100 supporting activities in seven categories such as the Hongqiao Forum, policy interpretation, economic and trade exchanges, business environment promotion, new product releases, industrial investment docking signings, and investment promotion, the CIIE has facilitated over a thousand cooperation intentions. Therefore, the recovery of the world economy will undoubtedly promote cross-border logistics into a new era.

2. China-Canada Trade Scaling New Heights

According to the Ministry of Commerce, the total merchandise trade between China and Canada reached 128.6 billion Canadian dollars in 2022. China is Canada's second-largest trading partner, second-largest source of imports, and second-largest export market.

In the first half of 2023, China's imports from Canada mainly include: 1. mineral products, accounting for approximately 22.8%; 2. plant-based commodities, accounting for approximately 22.2%; 3. wood pulp and paper products, accounting for approximately 12.4%; 4. animal-based products, accounting for over 8%; 5. animal and plant oil products, accounting for approximately 6.4%; 6. machinery and electronic products, with a relatively low share but accounting for 43.2% in terms of value. Non-ferrous metals and their products, textiles and raw materials also have a certain proportion.

Among them, the export value of mineral products and plant-based commodities surged by about 100% in the first five months.

The demand for eco-friendly products among Chinese consumers is growing, and Canada's vast and sparsely populated ecological environment perfectly meets this demand. It is believed that the more open Chinese market after the CIIE will continue to drive this data to new highs.

3. Canada International Group Exhibition Hall

The exhibition hall is divided into six main areas: food and agricultural products, automobiles, technical equipment, consumer goods, medical equipment and medical security, and trade in services. As a company specializing in Canadian supply chain solutions, Canada International Group appeared in the service trade exhibition area of Hall 8.2 alongside world logistics giants.

It aims to further promote trade between China and Canada, facilitate domestic and international dual circulation, and promote high-level opening-up. It offers a weekly export capacity of over 400 tons and an import capacity of over 300 tons.

Advantages of the route:

- Dense flight schedule: Flights available on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

- Ample cargo space: 65 tons / 550 CBM per flight.

- Efficient customs clearance: Fresh goods can be cleared and picked up within 2 hours of flight landing.

The formation of the route's advantages—a result of the government and enterprises resonating in harmony

The development vision of the Qingdao West Coast New Area: Implementing the ocean strategy, taking the lead in the blue crossing, and building a beautiful new area. The blue crossing refers to continuous development with the ocean economy as the theme, wherein world-renowned marine products are an important component. As the "king of seafood," Canadian lobster is destined to become a calling card for Qingdao's integration with Canada.

Qingdao International Airport Group earnestly upholds the core values of customer orientation, striving as the foundation, joint construction and sharing, and adhering to originality and innovation. With the vision of creating a "world-class, domestically leading" Northeast Asian international hub airport, it helps Qingdao achieve a higher level of opening-up and promotes the development of the ocean economy theme. Breaking away from conventional processes, it has established "one matter, one discussion," "one enterprise, one strategy," and "one aircraft, one strategy" green channels. Specifically for the import of fresh products, dedicated personnel are assigned to handle various processes such as opening cargo doors, unloading, and tallying immediately after the aircraft lands. This ensures that within one hour, fresh products can be loaded onto transport vehicles and delivered to the dining tables of Qingdao citizens or to various locations nationwide.

Qingdao Customs upholds the fine traditions of the customs workforce, with the grand aspiration of serving the nation's greater cause. It continuously improves regulatory efficiency and service standards. To ensure the rapid clearance of fresh products, Qingdao Jiaodong Airport Customs has not only set up dedicated clearance windows for imported fresh goods in the customs declaration hall but also allows enterprises to submit documents for advance review. It adopts a "pre-declaration" clearance mode and conducts on-site inspections in quarantine and release processes, significantly reducing release time to ensure customs clearance inspections are completed within 0.5 hours. It truly serves as a guardian of the national gateway, reassuring the Party and satisfying the people.

Jia You International is an expert in end-to-end self-operated supply chain solutions between China and Canada. Facilitating trade between the two countries is the foundation of its business development.

Against the backdrop of harmonized government and enterprise initiatives, and with the momentum of the Import Expo, it will undoubtedly become a catalyst for promoting trade between China and Canada, providing more stable, convenient, and efficient services for people in both countries to enjoy each other's characteristic products.
