"On November 22, 2023, the International Port and Shipping Cross-Border E-commerce (Shanghai) Development Summit concluded in Shanghai. Dai Bin, Vice President and General Manager of the Comprehensive Business Department at Di4Fang, was invited to attend the forum and delivered a keynote speech on 'Digital Transformation: Enhancing the Flexibility and Agility of Cross-Border Supply Chains.' He shared how Di4Fang utilizes digital technology and innovative models to provide efficient, convenient, and secure logistics services for cross-border e-commerce clients."
"Cross-border e-commerce serves as a significant driver of the global economy today. According to ecommerceBD's forecast, global e-commerce sales are expected to grow by 10.4% year-on-year in 2023, reaching $6.3 trillion. Among these figures, the European and American markets stand as the primary battlegrounds for cross-border e-commerce, constituting 60% of the global market. However, emerging markets such as Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa also present tremendous exploration opportunities.
Dai Bin stated that with the proliferation of the internet and diversified consumer demands, online shopping by overseas consumers has become normalized. They prioritize product quality, pricing, timeliness, and overall experience. Taking Shein and Temu as examples, these two cross-border e-commerce platforms respond rapidly to trends in overseas markets, offering a wide variety of styles and competitive prices, attracting numerous overseas consumers, particularly the younger demographic. This operational model has led to the emergence of a 'small-order fast-response' mode in cross-border logistics. Each order comprises fewer items, but with higher frequency, necessitating logistics service providers to swiftly, flexibly, and accurately handle collection, sorting, transportation, customs clearance, and delivery while ensuring the safety and traceability of goods.
Efficiency and responsiveness in logistics services are paramount for the small-order fast-response model. This model often demands high requirements for delivery time and location. In order to meet the logistics needs of cross-border e-commerce clients, Di4Fang has successfully promoted the application of flexible and agile supply chains, enhancing logistics service efficiency and quality through digital technology and innovative models.
Starting from February 2023, Di4Fang launched its first-mile network expansion plan, establishing over 70 collection/distribution service points nationwide and owning nearly one million square meters of operation space. The 'One Network Across the Country' layout has been preliminarily established. Through multi-warehouse coordination, collaboration among various business lines (direct shipping, consolidated shipping, trunk warehouses), and optimization adjustments of trunk routes, turnover time has been greatly reduced, expediting shipping, arrival at destination countries, and delivery, thus enhancing service responsiveness.
During this year's Double Eleven shopping festival, Di4Fang achieved a timely rate and collection rate of 98%, with doorstep collection realized within 2 minutes at its fastest. After customers place an order via the collection reservation mini-program on their phones, Di4Fang's collection center platform displays the customer's specific location. Through dynamic routing, utilizing big data and AI supercomputing power, the optimal route for each shipment is planned, and nearby vehicle dispatching is conducted, significantly reducing transportation time.
The upgrade of digital intelligence and flexible supply chain capabilities has also made Di4Fang's logistics resource scheduling during this Double Eleven more accurate. Within Di4Fang's warehouses, various automated equipment such as self-developed multi-format parcel one-stop storage machines, sorting error detection devices, intelligent PTL seeding walls, twelve-grid automated unsealing and stacking machines, and automatic palletizing machines have been deployed to improve the flexibility and responsiveness of logistics operations. Through Di4Fang's digital transformation of logistics, effective coping with the pressure of handling high volumes during this year's Double Eleven peak period was achieved, with a single-day peak exceeding 10 million orders and a total volume surpassing 50 million orders."
