1.Cainiao Improves JIT and Warehouse Dispatch Efficiency
On January 15th, in order to further improve the logistics fulfillment certainty for AliExpress semi-managed merchants, Cainiao is offering free doorstep pickup and a one-item pickup service for JIT (Just-in-Time) merchants. They are also implementing double daily pickups and nighttime delivery gradually. With closely coordinated warehouse operations, the "high-specification" JIT, with order-pickup-warehousing-shipping within 48 hours, will be piloted in core industrial areas.
2.MSC Receives a Latest Boeing 777F Cargo Plane:
On January 15th, MSC Airfreight's latest cargo plane has been delivered and will be operational on trans-Pacific routes. This new Boeing 777F cargo plane has been received by Atlas Air. Previously, Atlas Air, an aviation leasing company, had signed a long-term ACMI agreement with MSC, including the delivery of four cargo planes, with this being the final one.
3.Shenzhen Airport's Wholly-Owned Subsidiary to Take Over Cargo Agent Warehouse in South Cargo Area:
On January 15th, to meet the development needs of airport air cargo business and enhance logistics and warehousing facility support capabilities, Shenzhen Airport's controlling shareholder, Shenzhen Airport (Group) Co., Ltd., invested in building the South Cargo Area Cargo Agent Warehouse, which has been completed and accepted. The airport group plans to entrust its wholly-owned subsidiary, Shenzhen Airport Modern Logistics Co., Ltd., to operate and manage the South Cargo Area Cargo Agent Warehouse through a delegated management contract. The contract is for a duration of 3 years, starting from the date of physical handover completion.
4.Amazon Brazil Site Increases Multiple Commissions and Logistics Fees:
On January 15th, Amazon Brazil announced an increase in multiple commissions and logistics fees, effective from February 2nd. The categories facing an increase include: commission rates for white goods and air conditioning will be raised to 10%; Amazon FBA outbound fees will increase on average by 1.23 Brazilian reals; FBA Onsite rates will increase on average by 1.16 Brazilian reals; the rate for products shipped through Delivery by Amazon with a selling price of 79 Brazilian reals or more will increase by 1.77 Brazilian reals.
5.TikTok Shop to Launch in Latin America:
On January 15th, sources reported that TikTok plans to launch its TikTok Shop e-commerce service in the Latin American market in the coming months. This move aims to tap into the potential of the Latin American e-commerce market and find a second curve of performance growth. As of now, TikTok has already launched its shopping feature in several markets, including the United States, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and more.
6.Shopee's Total Visits in Southeast Asia Reach 584 Million in December 2023:
On January 15th, Similarweb, a data analysis website, revealed the visitation data for major e-commerce platforms in Southeast Asia in December 2023 (including web and mobile). Shopee stood out with the highest visits across all sites and a notable growth rate. In December 2023, Shopee's six major sites in Southeast Asia had a total of 584 million visits, a significant increase from 509 million in the same period of 2022, with a growth rate of 14.7%.
7.EU Strengthens Import Safety Requirements for Goods Transportation:
On January 15th, the EU announced that the third version of the Import Control System 2 (ICS2) will be implemented from June 3rd this year. New requirements are introduced for goods arriving in or transiting through the EU, including those transported by sea, rail, and road. The second version of ICS2, which came into effect in March 2023, only applied to goods transported by air to destinations in the EU-27 and to Norway, Switzerland, and Northern Ireland (irrespective of the country of origin).
8.General Administration of Customs: China's Cross-Border E-Commerce Imports and Exports Reached 2.38 Trillion Yuan in 2023:
On January 15th, according to customs statistics, China's total import and export value last year was 41.76 trillion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 0.2%. Among them, exports amounted to 23.77 trillion yuan, growing by 0.6%. In 2023, the number of China's free trade pilot zones has expanded to 22, with a total import and export value of 7.67 trillion yuan, growing by 2.7%, accounting for 18.4% of the total import and export value. Preliminary statistics show that China's cross-border e-commerce imports and exports reached 2.38 trillion yuan in 2023, a growth of 15.6%.
