2.Daifuku Group's Largest Acquisition Approved

4.Merchant Ship Logistics Launches Full Cargo Aircraft Xiamen ⇌ Manila Route

On February 28th, flight MF8991, loaded with e-commerce products, flowers, mechanical parts, and other goods, took off from Xiamen Gaoqi Airport at 11:07 PM. After a two-hour flight, the Merchant Ship full cargo aircraft landed smoothly at Manila International Airport in the Philippines, marking the official opening of the Merchant Ship Logistics Xiamen-Manila international freight route.

The Xiamen-Manila route is the first international regular route opened by Merchant Ship and the first full cargo aircraft regular route directly from Xiamen to Manila. With five flights per week, the tight schedule will provide a more convenient, efficient "air corridor" between southeastern China and Southeast Asia.

The new distribution center covers an area of 138,500 square feet, with 41 dock doors, integrating warehouse, meeting rooms, training, and office space. The distribution center is equipped with two large sorting machines, each capable of handling 14,000 parcels per hour.

10.New Rules on Demurrage and Detention Fees for American Container Lines Announced

On February 28th, the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) announced new rules on demurrage and detention fees for American container lines, which will take effect 90 days after being officially announced.

The new rules focus on demurrage and detention fees in the container shipping market. Demurrage refers to charges levied by carriers and container terminals when customers do not pick up full containers within a certain number of days. Detention fees, on the other hand, are charged to customers if they delay returning empty containers to the terminal.

Starting from May 26, 2024, container shipping carriers and maritime terminal operators will be required to issue invoices for demurrage and detention fees to consignors or consignees within 30 days after the last charge occurred. Consignors or consignees will have at least 30 days to request a refund of fees.
