On June 25, Cainiao announced its plan to establish seven cross-border merchant hubs throughout the year, covering 20 industrial belts nationwide, with the first hub located in Yiwu. By strengthening local service team construction, Cainiao aims to provide tailored, cost-effective international express solutions for small and medium-sized businesses venturing abroad, potentially saving 5-10% in logistics costs. Additionally, Cainiao will offer merchants regular training, customized discount plans, large-value coupons, and various benefits such as "old brings new" to support small and medium-sized cross-border businesses with substantial financial incentives.

2.TikTok Shop Releases New Regulations

On June 25, TikTok Shop's cross-border stores announced a new order limit policy to regulate platform order and protect consumer rights. If a seller's shop has a delayed fulfillment rate of 10%, it will be restricted from receiving new orders until the delayed fulfillment rate drops below 4% within seven days. This measure dynamically adjusts based on the shop's highest average daily order volume and delayed fulfillment rate over the past 28 days. The policy aims to improve transaction efficiency, warn problematic shops, and provide a recovery path for sellers who actively improve.

3.UPS Announces Sale of Coyote Logistics to RXO

On June 25, UPS announced that U.S. logistics company RXO has agreed to acquire UPS's asset-light freight brokerage business, Coyote Logistics, for $1.025 billion. The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of this year, pending regulatory approval. According to RXO's press release, this deal will make RXO the third-largest transportation broker in North America, expanding RXO's market position, increasing customer capacity, and enhancing carrier freight channels.

4.YTO Launches China-Kazakhstan Cross-Border Express Logistics Service

On June 25, after more than a month of trial operation, YTO Express officially launched its cross-border express logistics service between China and Kazakhstan in cooperation with Kazakhstan National Post (Kazpost). Kazakhstan is the first country in Central Asia covered by YTO. Through this cooperation, YTO has established a nationwide delivery network in Kazakhstan, providing compliant, stable, and convenient express logistics services for e-commerce platforms and customers. During peak times, nearly 10,000 cross-border e-commerce parcels per day are handled by YTO, covering customs clearance, transportation, sorting, and delivery from the seller's warehouse in China to local consumers' hands within as fast as 10 days.

5. Shopee Vietnam Launches 4-Day Delivery

On June 25, Shopee Vietnam announced the addition of the SLS-4 Day Guaranteed Delivery (4DD) logistics channel, effective June 21, 2024 (local time), to continuously provide users with better service. The "4 Day Guaranteed Delivery" logistics channel aims to offer faster logistics services, supporting orders paid before 14:00 on the same day to be delivered to buyers within four working days (calculated from the day after the order is generated, including Saturdays, and in some areas, within five working days). This initiative aims to enhance the shopping experience for buyers and increase order volumes for sellers' shops. The channel will be automatically activated for eligible sellers' shops or products.

6.eBaymag Assists Sellers in Expanding into the European Market

 

On June 25, eBay announced a significant promotion to help sellers quickly expand their European business. Starting from July 1, 2024, sellers who list items on eBay France and Italy using the free multi-site listing tool eBaymag will enjoy a 50% discount on final value fees, with a maximum monthly discount of up to $1 million. This promotion is available to eBay accounts that receive an invitation email and runs from 15:00 on July 1, 2024, to 15:00 on January 1, 2025.

7. COSCO Shipping's SEA3 Express Route to the U.S. West Coast Inaugural Voyage from Yantian

 

On June 25, COSCO Shipping's SEA3 express route to the U.S. West Coast held its inaugural ceremony at Yantian International on June 24. The SEA3 route, departing from Yantian, directly reaches Long Beach with a stable 14-day delivery. The SEA series calls at the LBCT terminal, offering double shifts at Yantian and split arrivals at Long Beach, covering the entire preparation window. The cutoff time for SEA at Yantian is Sunday, and for SEA3 it is Friday. The SEA series services have entered the dual-core era, providing customers with more efficient and flexible supply chain solutions, leading a new era of cross-border trade.

8.Maersk to Charge HWS and PSS


On June 25, Maersk announced that it will impose a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) from Chinese ports to Bangladesh starting July 1, 2024. Additionally, from July 4, 2024, a Heavy Weight Surcharge (HWS) will be charged for shipments from Far East Asia (excluding Taiwan) to India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Pakistan.

9. MSC Adjusts MEXICAS Route Service

 

On June 25, MSC announced an adjustment to its MEXICAS route service, adding a call at Tianjin Xingang. The new port sequence for the MEXICAS route is: Tianjin Xingang - Qingdao - Ningbo - Busan - Manzanillo - Lázaro Cárdenas. The "MSC INES" vessel will have its inaugural voyage from Tianjin Xingang on August 3, with voyage number QM431A.

10.ONE Launches New Route

 

On June 25, Ocean Network Express (ONE) announced the launch of a new China-Vietnam-Thailand (CVT) route, further expanding ONE's service network in Asia to provide more efficient and competitive services to customers. With the launch of this new route, ONE not only enhances coverage from Busan to Southeast Asia (Vietnam/Thailand) but also offers direct service from Ningbo to Vietnam and Thailand, reducing transportation time and providing more convenient services to customers.


The port sequence for the CVT route is: Busan - Shanghai - Ningbo - Ho Chi Minh Cat Lai - Laem Chabang.

11. CMA CGM Rises to Become the World's Second Largest Shipping Line

On June 25, it was reported that CMA CGM plans to spend $3.5 billion to order 20 container ships from South Korea's HD Hyundai. This order will further expand CMA CGM's large fleet. With this additional capacity, CMA CGM's current controlled capacity plus its order book will surpass that of Maersk, making it the world's second-largest shipping line.

12. Amazon Places Additional Order for 8 Boeing Freighters

On June 25, Amazon Air announced an expanded partnership with Sun Country Airlines, placing an additional order for eight Boeing 737-800 freighters with Sun Country. The revised air transport service agreement means that Sun Country will now operate a total of 20 Boeing 737-800 freighters on behalf of the e-commerce giant across the U.S. and the Americas.

 

Additionally, the term of the CMI (Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) agreement has been extended by five years to 2030, with a series of three options that, if exercised, would extend the agreement to 2037. The first of the new planes is expected to enter service in the first quarter of 2025, with all eight planes expected to be operational by the third quarter of 2025.

13. Teleport Targets China's E-Commerce Air Cargo Market

On June 25, it was reported that Teleport aims to further strengthen its e-commerce air cargo business between China and Southeast Asia with next-day service, striving to shorten delivery times for e-commerce goods through its air network between China and Southeast Asia. The standard service level for cross-border parcels from China to Southeast Asian consumers is approximately five days. With the increase in cross-border e-commerce volume in Southeast Asia, the company is enhancing its next-day air delivery service and plans to deliver 2 million parcels daily by 2025.
