On July 5, Armstrong and Associate's data revealed that the air cargo volume of the top 25 air freight forwarders decreased by 9.8% year-on-year in 2023, totaling 15.3 million tons. The top five companies are: Kuehne + Nagel (1st), DHL (2nd), DSV (3rd), DB Schenker (4th), and Sinotrans (5th).

 

Among them, six Chinese companies made it to the list: Sinotrans (5th), Orient Overseas International (9th), Kerry Logistics (11th), Honour Lane Shipping (17th), CTS International Logistics (21st), and Baltrans Logistics (23rd).

2. Jiacheng International's International E-commerce Port Project Expected to Start This Year

 

On July 5, in response to investor inquiries, Jiacheng International stated that the Greater Bay Area (South China) International E-commerce Port project is expected to begin construction in 2024. This project will attract renowned domestic cross-border (live-streaming) e-commerce companies, their upstream and downstream suppliers, and customers. It aims to build an integrated modern international supply chain e-commerce city, featuring a smart logistics center and a platform for e-commerce companies. This development will become a benchmark for integrated e-commerce industries in the Pearl River Delta and across China. The project's total construction area is about 405,600 square meters, with an expected construction period of two and a half years. Barring force majeure, the annual output value of the smart logistics park is expected to reach tens of billions of yuan once the project is fully operational.

 

Additionally, Jiacheng International provides multiple cross-border e-commerce services for SHEIN, offering a comprehensive service model that has been fully recognized by cross-border e-commerce platform companies, leading to an expansion of the company's business services.

3. Lufthansa Approved to Acquire New Italy Airline

 

On July 5, it was announced that the EU antitrust authorities have officially approved Lufthansa's acquisition of a 41% stake in ITA Airways (New Italy Airline) for 325 million euros (350 million USD). This marks a decisive advancement in the acquisition process that has been ongoing for three to four years. Since Lufthansa notified the EU of its acquisition intention in November 2023, the EU antitrust authorities deliberated for several months before announcing this latest decision. 4. DHL Chooses Northern Air Cargo to Operate U.S. West Coast Routes

Last month, Northern Air Cargo began using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft to serve communities from its base in Anchorage, Alaska. 5. Kuehne + Nagel Moves into New Cargo Facility at Birmingham Airport
