1.DSV Plans to Acquire DB Schenker for €14 Billion
On August 27, it was reported that Denmark’s DSV and a consortium led by CVC Capital Partners have each submitted acquisition bids for DB Schenker, valuing the company at approximately €14 billion. In addition to the €14 billion offer, the CVC-led group also proposed a bid as high as €16 billion. The German government may reinvest about €3 billion to obtain approximately 25% of the freight forwarder’s shares. It is also noted that in July, Maersk and Saudi Arabia's Bahri officially withdrew their acquisition offers for DB Schenker.

3.SF Express Western Aviation Cargo Hub Project Expected to Pass Inspection This Year
On August 27, it was reported that the SF Express Western Aviation Cargo Hub project, located in Shuangliu District, Chengdu, had topped out in June this year and is expected to be completed and pass inspection by the end of the year. The project, with a total investment of ¥1 billion, covers an area of 120 acres and includes a 172,000-square-meter modern, intelligent air cargo transit center. It is the fourth regional international air cargo transit center in China and the first project in the western region to seamlessly integrate full cargo aircraft with an aviation cargo hub. Once completed, goods from across the country and the globe can be consolidated and quickly transshipped to various locations in Sichuan, while goods from Sichuan can be efficiently shipped to other parts of the country and the world.

4.Henan and China Post Jointly Create a Global International Postal Express Hub
On August 27, it was reported that Henan Provincial Governor Wang Kai and China Post Group Chairman Liu Aili jointly launched the China Post Aviation Hub project in the Zhengzhou Airport Zone. The project, which is a strategic leading infrastructure for modern logistics development, integrates air and land transportation, domestic and international mail and goods, as well as warehousing and sorting. Covering over 1,600 acres, the project includes the layout of an aviation transit center, a postal aviation comprehensive support base, and other airside facilities, aiming to create a global international postal express hub.

5.TEMU Platform Reminds Sellers of Austrian EPR Compliance Adjustments
On August 27, TEMU issued an urgent notice to merchants to comply with the new e-commerce product regulations in Austria, which require that products sold to Austria appoint a local authorized representative to register the relevant product categories and fulfill compliance obligations. TEMU requires sellers to submit the relevant qualifications and documents by August 31, 2024. Failure to comply may result in frozen funds or delisted products, though the platform may adjust the deadline. EPR is an EU-mandated environmental regulation policy that TEMU has implemented for compliance in Germany, France, Spain, and other countries. Sellers are strictly required to register under the German Packaging Act, otherwise, they risk affecting store withdrawals or product listings.

6.Amazon Prime Member Day Promotion to Launch in October

7.TikTok Tests Localized Services in Indonesia and Thailand
On August 27, it was reported that TikTok is testing localized services in Indonesia and Thailand. The service brings offline merchant services online, using short videos and live streaming for display and sales, forming a model similar to Meituan and Ele.me. 8.TikTok Shop Malaysia to Adjust Commission Rates
On August 27, it was announced that TikTok Shop Malaysia will increase transaction fees and commissions for all categories starting September 5. After the adjustment, the transaction fee for sellers will rise from 2.16% to 3.78%, including an 8% Sales and Service Tax (SST). TikTok Shop will also implement different commission fees for regular stores and Mall sellers. The commission rate for TikTok Shop varies by product category and includes an 8% SST. For regular stores, electronics will see an increase of 4.86% to 9.18%, fashion products will rise from 8.10% to 10.26%, FMCG products will increase from 6.48% to 11.34%, and lifestyle products will increase from 6.48% to 10.26%. For Mall sellers, commission rates are higher, ranging from 8.10% to 12.42% for electronics, 11.34% to 13.5% for fashion products, 3.24% to 14.58% for FMCG products, and 9.72% to 13.5% for lifestyle products.

9.Shopify and YouTube Launch New Sales Program

11.Tianjin Port Opens Direct Shipping Route to Southeast Asia
On August 27, it was reported that a new premium shipping route (NCP) from North China to Southeast Asia has officially opened at Tianjin Port. The new container shipping route is independently operated by Sinotrans Container Lines, with three 1,100 TEU container ships. This route features simplified port calls and fast delivery, with an estimated sailing time of six and a half days from Southeast Asian ports to Tianjin Port, reducing the time by nearly 20%. 12. AAL Shipping Launches New Europe-Asia Express Liner Service
On August 27, it was reported that AAL Shipping has launched a new monthly express service called the "Europe-Asia Express Liner Service." This new service complements existing services, including the popular "Europe-Middle East/India-Asia (EUMEIA) Monthly Liner Service" and the "Mediterranean-Middle East-India Pendulum Service." The new Europe-Asia Express Liner Service will use Super B-Class vessels, which have a lifting capacity of up to 700 tons and an open deck area exceeding 5,000 square meters.
