1.USPS to Raise Rates

 

On November 19, it was announced that starting January 19, 2025, USPS will increase the rates for shipping Priority Mail packages by an average of 3.2%, while USPS Ground Advantage rates will rise by 3.9%. Online sellers face a more complex landscape, as many platforms and delivery services offer discounted rates through USPS Connect eCommerce. In addition, sellers on platforms like eBay and Etsy will face the double burden of commission and payment processing fees.

2.Temu’s Semi-Managed Platform to Launch in Vietnam

 

On November 19, it was reported that Temu’s semi-managed platform is preparing to launch in Vietnam. The service for Vietnamese customers is tentatively set for November 24, although this date may change depending on legal procedures. Users should keep an eye on official updates to stay informed. Additionally, new sites are set to launch in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Sweden.

3.SF Express Board Approves Hong Kong IPO Proposal

 

On November 19, SF Express announced that its board had unanimously approved the proposal for a global offering of H shares (including a public offering in Hong Kong and an international offering) and a listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. SF Express aims to raise between $1 billion and $1.5 billion through its Hong Kong IPO, which would make it the second-largest IPO in Hong Kong this year, following Midea Group’s September listing.

4.DHL Express Partners with Central Airlines to Operate B777Fs

 

On November 19, it was announced that Central Airlines will operate two Boeing B777F freighters on behalf of DHL Express. This partnership marks the first time DHL has signed an operational agreement with a Chinese cargo airline. Central Airlines operates a fleet of eight Boeing B737F and two B777F freighters, providing over 40 domestic and international routes. The airline also operates two B777Fs for YunTu, with 6 to 8 flights weekly between Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport and Paris CDG Airport.

5.Winit Expands Warehousing in the US

 

On November 19, Winit announced that its East Coast warehouse had fully resumed normal operations, with fulfillment times also fully restored. To meet the growing demand for cross-border outbound logistics, Winit plans to expand its warehouse capacity in 2025 by adding large and automated warehouses in locations such as Los Angeles and Kentucky. Since its founding in 2012, Winit has established a footprint in major cross-border e-commerce markets, including North America, Europe, the UK, and Australia, with a global warehouse network of over 500,000 square meters.

6.AliExpress Tops UK Shopping App Downloads

 

On November 19, data from Data.ai revealed that AliExpress recently became the top downloaded shopping app in the UK, driven by its overseas Double 11 sales event. AliExpress has doubled its investment in this year’s Double 11 event, making it the biggest growth opportunity for cross-border merchants. The platform is increasing its investments in key Western markets, such as the UK and Europe, enhancing its “overseas hosting” services and launching initiatives like the “Billion Dollar Subsidy” to support brand exports and large furniture sales abroad.

7.YTO Express’s China-Kazakhstan Cross-Border Logistics Expected to Grow Over 100%

 

On November 19, YTO Express reported that during the peak e-commerce season, daily cross-border express shipments between China and Kazakhstan have surpassed 20,000 orders. As the shopping season, including events like Double 11 and Black Friday, intensifies, cross-border logistics volumes between China and Kazakhstan are expected to more than double. According to Wang Yue, Deputy Director of International Market Marketing at YTO Express, enhanced capacity has enabled packages to be delivered within 7 days, with an on-time rate exceeding 99%.

8.New “Shenyang to Vancouver” Cross-Border Cargo Route Launched

 

On November 19, a Boeing 767-300F cargo aircraft operated by a Canadian cargo airline, carrying 45 tons of cross-border e-commerce goods, took off from Shenyang Taoxian International Airport bound for Vancouver International Airport. This marks the launch of the new “Shenyang-Vancouver” cross-border cargo route. It is the first time a foreign cargo airline has launched a full cargo cross-border route from Shenyang, with connections to Los Angeles. The route strengthens Shenyang’s position as a direct gateway to North America.

9.Shuangliu Airport Now Operates 25 Cargo Routes

 

On November 19, it was reported that Shuangliu Airport had added new cargo routes to Warsaw, Tbilisi, Paris, and Liège in 2024, bringing its total number of international cargo routes to 25, placing it among the top airports nationwide. These routes link key cities such as Chicago, New York, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Bangkok, and Seoul, forming a global air cargo network spanning Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa, significantly boosting the airport’s cargo capacity.

10.Increased International Cargo Flights to China

 

On November 19, with air cargo demand rising, logistics companies have been increasing the number of flights departing from China. Recently, Martinair, the cargo subsidiary of Air France-KLM, redeployed its Latin America route and launched a new Hong Kong to Amsterdam flight in September, marking the airline’s first flight to a Chinese city in nine years. DHL also announced plans to invest in eight new Boeing 777 freighters due to high anticipated demand in China. UPS, which operates over 360 daily flights, said in October that it would add 200 flights from Asia to Europe and the U.S. in the fourth quarter due to a surge in cargo demand.

11.CMA CGM Announces Rate Restoration Initiative

 

On November 19, CMA CGM announced a Rate Restoration Initiative (RRI), effective December 1, 2024, for shipments from Canada’s West Coast to mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Northeast Asia, and Southeast Asia. The new charges will be $50 per 20-foot container and $100 per 40-foot and 45-foot containers, applicable to dry cargo only.

12.Maersk Adjusts Peak Season Surcharge Scope

 

On November 19, Maersk announced adjustments to the scope of its peak season surcharge, affecting shipments from mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, and Mongolia to destinations such as New Zealand, Fiji, and French Polynesia, effective from December 1, 2024.
