1. Jiacheng International Accelerates Global Overseas Warehouse Expansion

 

On December 3, it was reported that the full-scale operation of Jiacheng International Port and the addition of new export logistics services for a world-renowned large cross-border e-commerce platform are expected to bring significant economic benefits. To further enhance its core competitiveness in cross-border e-commerce, Jiacheng International is setting up overseas warehouses in regions with developed cross-border e-commerce and active consumers, consolidating its advantage in providing fully integrated cross-border e-commerce services. It is accelerating its global overseas warehouse layout to achieve its strategy of cross-border e-commerce globalization.

 

It is reported that Jiacheng International will build overseas warehouses in Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Overseas warehouses serve as important nodes in cross-border e-commerce, functioning as new infrastructure for foreign trade and crucial platforms for driving foreign trade growth and achieving high-quality development.

2. Cainiao Partners with Qatar Airways

 

On December 3, it was announced that Qatar Airways and Cainiao have agreed to strengthen their existing partnership to support the development of cross-border e-commerce and enhance the global consumer experience. Cainiao, with its deep e-commerce insights and technical expertise, will complement Qatar Airways' extensive global connectivity. Together, they will enhance global e-commerce logistics, stimulating regional and global economic growth.

3. China Post to Launch South China Postal Aviation (International) Hub Center

 

On December 3, China Post Group announced the launch of the South China Postal Aviation (International) Hub Center, supporting Guangzhou in building an efficient and competitive international logistics hub. The center aims to facilitate "local goods shipped globally, global goods gathered in Guangzhou." China Post has already set up four operational centers at Baiyun Airport, including the Guangzhou Airmail Processing Center, Guangzhou Airmail Handling Site, Guangzhou South China Road Mail Processing Center, and Guangzhou Handling Center, with a daily processing capacity of over 5 million items.

 

Additionally, plans are in place to invest in Guangzhou to create an aviation hub for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. Its key functions will include domestic and international air cargo terminals, domestic express mail processing, international mail handling, cross-border e-commerce customs clearance centers, and integrated warehousing and distribution facilities. Cainiao Group will also collaborate with Guangdong Airport Group to build the Cainiao South China eHub project.

4. Ezhou Huahu Airport Increases International Cargo Capacity by 30,000 Tons Annually

 

On December 3, it was reported that Asia’s first dedicated cargo airport—Ezhou Huahu International Airport—has completed its cargo terminal renovation project, passing final inspections. The airport's international cargo and mail handling capacity will be further increased. The project involved transforming part of the existing domestic cargo terminal into an international terminal, expanding the building's area to 24,000 square meters, and adding a new annual international cargo and mail handling capacity of 30,000 tons. New customs gates and fencing have also been built, and entrances, exits, steps, ramps, and truck parking spaces have been modified. By the end of 2025, the airport’s international cargo capacity is expected to reach 1.7 million tons annually.

5. Chengdu-Miami-Santiago Cargo Charter Route Launched

 

On December 3, the first flight of the scheduled "Chengdu-Miami-Santiago" cargo charter route, operated by Apex, successfully completed its maiden voyage and officially entered operation. The first leg of the route is served by an Atlas Air B747F freighter departing from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. Upon arrival in Miami, it connects with an Amazon Air B767F freighter for the second leg of the flight to Santiago, Chile. Apex International Logistics (China) Co., Ltd. is responsible for the operation, with Atlas Air and Amazon Air operating the first and second legs, respectively.

6. Tianyi International Logistics Opens its 8th Self-operated International Cargo Route

 

On December 3, a full-freighter IL62 aircraft carrying 24.58 tons of exported auto parts departed from Urumqi International Airport, stopping in Tehran before flying to Belarus. This is Tianyi International Logistics' eighth self-operated charter cargo route launched this year. The full freighter is operated by Belarusian Rada Airlines, with plans to operate three flights per week, exceeding 100 flights by the end of next year. The outbound cargo consists of general trade goods, and the company will gradually open inbound cargo channels for the route in the future. This route expands international trade logistics channels, promoting Sino-Russian and Sino-European trade and injecting new vitality into Xinjiang's global trade exchanges.

7. 11 New International Cargo Routes Opened Nationwide in November

 

On December 3, it was reported that 11 new international cargo routes were launched across China in November, adding over 30 weekly round-trip flights. The new routes include six to Asia, three to Europe, and two to North America. As of November 30, a total of 156 new international cargo routes have been opened nationwide this year, increasing the weekly round-trip flights by over 430.

8. Temu’s U.S. Holiday Sales Increase by 18%

 

On December 3, Earnest Analytics released its 2024 U.S. holiday season sales report, revealing significant sales growth for TikTok Shop and Temu. TikTok Shop’s sales increased by 213.2% year-on-year, while Temu's sales for the first 13 days of the holiday season grew by 18.1% year-on-year.

9. TikTok Expands in the Middle East Market

 

On December 3, it was reported that TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew announced plans to establish a regional headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, expected to open in Q1 next year. Saudi Arabia’s new regulation, effective January this year, requires foreign companies and business groups without regional headquarters in the country to be barred from signing long-term contracts, which has spurred TikTok’s move to Riyadh. The Saudi Minister of Investment mentioned that over 500 multinational companies have already met the 2030 regional headquarters goal in advance, and TikTok’s move will further deepen its strategic layout in the Middle East, opening a new chapter in its business expansion with promising future developments.

11. Alibaba Invests 100 Billion KRW in Korean E-commerce Platform

 

On December 3, Korean e-commerce platform ABLY announced that its parent company, ABLY Group, has received an investment of 100 billion KRW (about 510 million RMB) from Alibaba. The statement indicated that through this investment, Alibaba will acquire a 5% stake in ABLY Group. Following the investment, ABLY's corporate value will increase to 3 trillion KRW, entering the "unicorn" club. ABLY plans to continue attracting additional investment from Silicon Valley and overseas sovereign wealth funds, aiming for another 100 billion KRW.

12. Maersk Adjusts Peak Season Surcharge on China to Senegal Routes

 

On December 3, it was announced that Maersk will adjust the peak season surcharge on routes from mainland China and Hong Kong to Senegal, effective December 16, 2024. According to the notice, the adjusted surcharge for 20-foot and 40-foot standard dry containers will be $3,500, and for 45-foot high cube containers, it will be $3,450. The surcharge for 20-foot and 40-foot open-top containers will also be $3,500 and $3,450, respectively. All fees are quoted in U.S. dollars.
