1. Atlas Air and DHL End 18-Year Joint Venture


On February 25, Atlas Air and DHL Express announced the termination of their 18-year joint venture, Polar Air Cargo. This decision not only marks a shift in their cooperation model but also signals Atlas Air's determined steps in its strategic transformation.

 

As the world’s largest operator of Boeing 747 freighters, Atlas Air stated, "As both companies have evolved, Atlas and DHL have jointly decided that the joint venture no longer aligns with the strategic direction of either shareholder." Last year, Atlas Air ended its partnership with Amazon and redirected its resources towards more profitable intercontinental operations. Additionally, it has actively entered the e-commerce business, gaining new clients like Shein and Temu, two major Chinese e-commerce platforms.

2.Kerry Logistics and Major Shipper Form Joint Venture

 

On February 25, global logistics giant Kerry Logistics Network Limited, ranked ninth in global shipping volume, announced the formation of a joint venture with POSCO Flow, the logistics arm of South Korea’s largest steelmaker, POSCO. The joint venture, POSCO Flow (Thailand), will be formed through Kerry’s subsidiary, Kerry Siam Seaport Limited in Thailand.

 

According to the partnership agreement, Kerry Logistics will become the preferred logistics partner for POSCO Flow (Thailand) and will provide comprehensive port and logistics services for POSCO's subsidiaries in Thailand and Southeast Asia. The establishment of this joint venture marks a significant step for Kerry Logistics in the industrial project logistics sector in Asia.

3. SF Express Executes Two Major Transactions Near 50 Million Yuan

 

On February 25, SF Holdings executed two large transactions on the block trading platform on February 24, with a total of 1.19 million shares traded for a total amount of 49.2898 million yuan. The transaction price was 41.42 yuan per share, which was a 0.29% discount compared to the closing price of the day. Institutional proprietary seats were involved in both buying and selling, with a net purchase of 49.2898 million yuan. Over the past three months, the stock has seen 20 block trades, totaling 945 million yuan in value.

4. Deutsche Bahn Receives Nearly 700 Million Euros in Compensation

 

On February 25, it was reported that after reaching a confidential settlement with Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong, Deutsche Bahn (DB) received final compensation from the "Air Cargo Cartel." DB established DB Barnsdale to represent DB Schenker and other freight forwarders and shippers in seeking compensation. The total amount of compensation received so far has reached nearly 700 million euros across 65 settlement agreements.

 

After Lufthansa Cargo reached an undisclosed settlement agreement with DB Barnsdale in 2019, airline executives expressed outrage, believing that the ultimate burden of overpaid transportation fees should fall on the shippers, not the freight forwarders. Therefore, any compensation should be received by the shippers.

5. DSV Likely to Make Larger Acquisitions in the Future

 

On February 25, DSV, a global logistics giant, announced in its latest shareholder meeting invitation that it plans to increase its share capital by 20% by 2030. This indicates that DSV is likely to continue its acquisition strategy and seeks financial flexibility for rapid acquisitions of new companies in the future.

 

Sydbank Senior Analyst Mikkel Emil Jensen commented that this suggests DSV is not backing down from its ambition to acquire new companies. After DSV's historic acquisition of DB Schenker for 14.3 billion euros, there were speculations about whether DSV was still looking for new acquisition targets or whether DB Schenker would be its final acquisition, or at least its last large-scale one.

6. JD Logistics Issues 16.5 Million Shares


On February 25, JD Logistics announced the issuance of 16.5 million new shares based on the share incentive plan adopted on May 10, 2021, following its IPO. As of the closing on February 20, 2025, JD Logistics' stock closed at HKD 13.98, up 0.29%, with a turnover rate of 0.16%, and a total transaction volume of 10.79 million shares amounting to HKD 151 million.

7. Amazon Adds 3 New Warehouses in the U.S.

 

On February 25, Amazon added three new warehouses to support inventory in the U.S. West. The new warehouses—POC1, POC2, and POC3—further strengthen Amazon’s logistics network in North America.

 

- POC1 is located in Fontana, 1 hour 50 minutes from Long Beach Port, and 30 minutes from the New ONT Overseas Warehouse.

- POC2 is in Ontario, 1 hour 20 minutes from Long Beach Port, and only 4 minutes from the New ONT Overseas Warehouse.

- POC3 is located in Jurupa Valley, 1 hour 30 minutes from Long Beach Port, and 16 minutes from the New ONT Overseas Warehouse.

8. Lazada Launches New Fulfillment Evaluation System

 

On February 25, Lazada officially announced the launch of a new fulfillment evaluation system on February 25, 2025. The new system will replace the previous "On-Time Shipment Rate (SOT)" with the core indicators of "Fast Fulfillment Rate (FFR)" and "First Day Fulfillment Rate (FFR+NO%)."

 

- Fast Fulfillment Rate (FFR) refers to the proportion of items in a store that are packed or scanned for storage within 48 hours of the order being placed over the past 4 weeks. This will be a requirement for promotional participation.

 

- First Day Fulfillment Rate (FFR+NO%) refers to the proportion of items shipped on the same day as the order is created. It will be a criterion for LazMall evaluation.

9. Best Inc. Malaysia Overseas Warehouse Becomes Shopee’s Partner Warehouse

 

On February 25, Best Inc.'s Malaysia overseas warehouse was officially certified as a partner warehouse for Shopee's localized fulfillment program for H2 2024. Shopee requires its partner warehouses to meet strict certification criteria, including delivery speed, inventory management, order fulfillment rate, and after-sales service.

10. 1688 to Launch Cross-Border E-commerce Platform "1688 Overseas"

 

On February 25, sources revealed that 1688 will officially launch a cross-border e-commerce platform called "1688 Overseas" in March. The platform will allow overseas retailers (including online sellers, offline merchants, and enterprises) to conveniently source products from China.

 

Insiders have disclosed that 1688 Overseas will still be a B2B platform, primarily targeting small and medium-sized B-end buyers, local retailers, etc. The platform will follow a fully-managed model, similar to TEMU, to reduce the burden on factory suppliers with no cross-border experience. Suppliers will only need to store their goods in designated warehouses in China, and the platform will handle the global shipping process. Official announcements from Alibaba or 1688 are yet to be made.

11. China Civil Aviation’s Cargo and Mail Transport Volume Reaches 821,000 Tons in January

 

On February 25, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) released the "January 2025 Major Production Indicators of Civil Aviation in China." The total cargo and mail transport volume in January reached 821,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.0%.

 

Domestic routes completed 514,000 tons, an increase of 6.7%, accounting for 62.61%, a 1.4 percentage point decrease year-on-year.International routes completed 307,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.1%, accounting for 37.39%, a 1.4 percentage point increase year-on-year.

12. Shenzhen Commerce Bureau to Launch Cross-Border E-commerce Consolidation Warehouse Support Policy

 

On February 25, to support the high-quality development of Shenzhen's cross-border e-commerce and reduce industry chain operating costs, the Shenzhen Commerce Bureau announced that it will soon introduce a policy to support cross-border e-commerce consolidation warehouses. The pre-registration for eligible warehouse enterprises is now officially open.
