1. Amazon Interested in Acquiring TikTok

On April 7, it was reported that Amazon has submitted a bid to the White House, seeking to acquire the social media app TikTok from its Chinese owner.


According to sources, Amazon submitted the acquisition proposal via letter to Vice President JD Vance and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick earlier this week. However, due to the bid being made just days before the deadline to avoid a U.S. ban on TikTok, the proposal has not been taken seriously by relevant parties.

2. FedEx Shuts Down Operations in Lebanon, Tennessee

On April 7, FedEx announced it would cease operations in Lebanon, Tennessee, and lay off more than 200 employees between May 9 and May 30, 2025. The decision is part of the company’s strategic operational adjustments to optimize cost structure and improve overall efficiency.

3. U.S. Confirms End of "De Minimis" Exemption for Chinese Goods

On April 7, it was reported that the U.S. "de minimis" policy will no longer apply to products from mainland China and Hong Kong. Other countries will also soon lose this exemption.


Effective May 2, goods imported from mainland China and Hong Kong that previously qualified for exemption will be subject to all applicable duties unless they enter through international postal services. If imported via postal services, a duty of either 30% of the item’s value or a flat fee of $25 per item will apply. Starting June 1, the flat fee will increase to $50 per item.

4. SF Express Strengthens Investment in Zhengzhou Airport Zone

On April 7, SF Holding Chairman and CEO Wang Wei met with Henan Provincial Party Secretary Liu Ning and Governor Wang Kai in Zhengzhou. On the same day, SF Group signed an investment cooperation agreement with the Zhengzhou Airport Economic Zone Management Committee.
The SF Central China Multimodal International Hub Project officially launched with a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan, covering 490 mu (about 326,000 sqm), to be built in two phases. Phase one alone will invest over 1 billion yuan with a building area of 225,000 sqm. The project will include facilities such as a regional air-rail-road intermodal hub, smart logistics centers, and intelligent unmanned warehouses to enhance logistics efficiency in Central China.

5. J&T Express Buys Back 1.11 Million Shares

On April 7, J&T Express-W (01519) announced a buyback of 1.11 million shares on April 1, 2025, at a cost of approximately HKD 6.17 million.
Previously, J&T reported full-year 2024 revenue of $10.26 billion, up 15.9% year-on-year. Total parcel volume grew 31% to 24.65 billion items. Revenue from core express delivery services increased 23.4% to $9.98 billion.

6. Amazon Global Selling Launches New Cooperation

On April 7, Amazon Global Selling signed a new cooperation memorandum with the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province, officially launching the “Zhejiang Industrial Belt Amazon Export Empowerment Plan.”

8. Temu U.S. Site Issues New Online Order Claim Policy

On April 3, Temu U.S. rolled out updated rules for order claims, focusing on lost and damaged parcels to better protect both merchants and consumers.
For shipments via FedEx, the claim window starts from the pickup date, with a 90-day limit. Claims must be submitted at least two days before the deadline, or they risk being denied. For USPS, the window is 60 days, with the same requirement of applying at least two days in advance.

9. Gansu-Qinghai SF Express and Gansu International Logistics Group Launch All-Cargo Route

On April 7, an all-cargo aircraft fully loaded with 25.5 tons of goods took off from Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport T3 Terminal, marking the successful inaugural flight of the 2025 international scheduled freighter route jointly operated by Gansu-Qinghai SF Express and Gansu International Logistics Group.


This is the first international cargo route launched since the relocation of Lanzhou Airport’s T3 terminal and represents a significant milestone in the strategic cooperation between the two parties.

10. Tianjin Cargo Airlines Launches New International Route

On April 7, Tianjin Cargo Airlines opened a new “Guiyang–Bangkok” international cargo route operated by B737-800 freighters, with three weekly flights planned. The number of flights may be adjusted based on market demand.


This is Guizhou Province’s second direct cargo route to Southeast Asia. In February, Guiyang Airport also launched routes to Yangon, Myanmar, and Dhaka, Bangladesh.

12. Nanjing to Increase International Air Routes

On April 7, Nanjing held a press conference announcing new support policies to help businesses expand into international markets.


Wang Chaoyong, Deputy Director of Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Commerce, stated that Nanjing will open or increase international (regional) air routes this year to enhance global connectivity.


The city aims to approve more international connecting flights and optimize immigration policies. It will continue developing the Nanjing–Moscow premium route and accelerate the launch of “China-Europe Railway + Cross-border E-commerce” and “China-Europe Railway + Cold Chain” services.
