2. Indonesian Minister Suggests President Block Temu's Entry

On November 24th, Indonesian Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, Teten, expressed caution about the entry of the e-commerce platform Temu into the Southeast Asian market. He believes that it would impact the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country and has recommended to the President to prohibit Temu from entering the Indonesian market.

Temu collaborates directly with factories to sell products to consumers, bypassing distributors, subsidiaries, and distributors, resulting in lower product prices. Teten believes this could lead to the elimination of many distributors, resulting in job losses, as the efficiency of products makes it difficult for Indonesian products to compete.
