1. TEMU Issues Important Semi-Fulfillment Notice


On August 19, TEMU issued an important notice regarding violations of cross-border shipping regulations by semi-fulfillment stores on the platform. Effective immediately, merchants whose stores were closed due to such violations have one opportunity to apply for reopening. They must sign a letter of commitment, pledging to strictly adhere to the merchant agreement and fulfillment rules, and accept any subsequent penalties for violations. If approved, the store can be reopened, but any further violations will result in permanent restrictions.

2. YunExpress Becomes Brazil PRC Purchase and Delivery Carrier


 On August 19, it was announced that the new Brazil PRC (Compliance Delivery Program) regulations for cross-border e-commerce goods have officially come into effect, imposing a 20% import tax on e-commerce parcels valued under $50 and emphasizing tax compliance. Amazon quickly followed up with the PRC, releasing the first list of approved carriers. YunExpress, as the first Amazon PRC purchase and delivery carrier in Brazil, will work with the platform and sellers to promote compliant shipping, improving the efficiency of customs clearance for parcels in Brazil.

3. Alibaba International Station's Semi-Fulfillment Service Launches at Shenzhen Central Warehouse


On August 19, Alibaba International Station's semi-fulfillment service was launched at the Shenzhen Central Warehouse. Orders using the semi-fulfillment service will gradually be processed at the Shenzhen Central Warehouse, where enhanced warehouse management, intelligent networking, and after-sales support will help small and medium-sized enterprises solve logistics fulfillment challenges, making the semi-fulfillment service more standardized and ensuring more reliable deliveries.

4. China Post Airlines Launches New International Cargo Route


On August 19, China Post Airlines flight CF275 departed from Fuzhou Changle International Airport and safely landed at Kansai International Airport in Osaka, Japan, at 13:33, marking the official opening of the "Fuzhou-Osaka" international cargo mail route by China Post. This route is operated by a B737-800F aircraft, with three flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. The "Fuzhou-Osaka" route is the second international (regional) route opened by China Post in Fuzhou, following the "Fuzhou-Taipei" route. Currently, China Post operates 12 international cargo mail routes to Japan.

5.JD Logistics Expands Overseas Warehousing


   On August 19, it was reported that in the first half of the year, JD Logistics opened new overseas warehouses in the United States, the UAE, and other locations. As of June 30, 2024, JD Logistics has nearly 100 bonded warehouses, direct mail warehouses, and overseas warehouses globally, with a total managed area of nearly 1 million square meters. The overseas supply chain network covers major countries and regions worldwide, providing high-quality, efficient, and comprehensive integrated supply chain solutions for more Chinese brands expanding overseas and local customers abroad.

6. JD Airlines Introduces 4 Cargo Planes in the First Half of the Year


 On August 19, it was reported that JD Airlines introduced four cargo planes and launched four cargo routes in the first half of the year. In mid-June, JD Airlines acquired four Boeing 737-800 converted freighters, which are expected to be delivered in 2024. Once these planes are delivered, JD Airlines' fleet will expand to 10 aircraft, all of which are B737-800 full freighters. The four cargo routes are: "Ezhou=Hanoi," "Ezhou⇌Manila," "Nantong=Incheon," and "Zhengzhou-Shenzhen." Three of these are international routes, and one is a domestic route, primarily carrying cross-border e-commerce goods, adding new vitality to trade exchanges between China and Vietnam, China and the Philippines, and China and South Korea, and accelerating the development of cross-border e-commerce.

7. Cargojet Purchases New B767 Converted Freighters


 On August 19, Cargojet confirmed that it is focusing on expanding its B767 freighter fleet, purchasing two passenger aircraft for future conversion. The Canadian cargo airline confirmed that two more B767s are currently being converted, with the first batch expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025, and the second batch expected to be completed by mid-2025. The airline also stated that it is looking to retain its Boeing 757 freighters due to increased freighter utilization.

8.Top 100 U.S. Retailers of 2024


On August 19, the National Retail Federation released the 2024 list of the "Top 100 U.S. Retailers" ranked by retail volume for fiscal year 2023. The top 20 retailers on the list remain largely unchanged from the previous year. Amazon ranks second, with U.S. retail sales of $250.11 billion, global retail sales of $359.93 billion, and 568 U.S. stores.

9.Shopee Adjusts Logistics Channel Names for Malaysia and Singapore Sites


On August 19, Shopee announced that starting from August 21, 2024, it will adjust the logistics channel names for cross-border stores in Malaysia and Singapore to optimize user experience and enhance service transparency. In Malaysia, the seller-side "Standard Delivery" will be renamed "Doorstep Delivery-China," while the buyer-side will retain the name "Doorstep Delivery." Additionally, "Economy Delivery (Sea Shipping)" will be renamed "Doorstep Delivery (Sea Shipping)" on both the seller and buyer sides to more clearly reflect the nature of the service.

 

 

In Singapore, the names of express channels, buyer self-pickup channels, and locker channels will remain unchanged on the seller side, but the buyer-side names will be simplified by removing the "(Overseas)" suffix, presenting them as "Doorstep Delivery," "Shopee Collection Point," and "Pick Locker" to streamline the shopping process. This adjustment aims to improve logistics service efficiency and customer satisfaction.

10. Shenzhen Achieves Record High Imports and Exports in the First Seven Months


On August 19, according to customs statistics, Shenzhen's imports and exports reached a record high of 2.59 trillion yuan in the first seven months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 29.6%, ranking first among mainland cities during the same period. This accounted for 10.4% and 50.2% of the national and provincial totals, respectively. Of this, exports were 1.65 trillion yuan, a 32.1% increase, also marking a historical high for the same period and ranking first among mainland cities. Imports were 940.5 billion yuan, a 25.5% increase.

11.Singapore to Implement Stricter Customs Regulations


 On August 19, Singapore announced that beginning September 1, stakeholders transporting goods through Singapore Port will need to comply with new customs regulations. The new rules require shippers to pre-register information for export, import, or transshipment goods. For long-distance voyages, free trade zones will require shippers to submit import information for long-distance trade 12 hours before each vessel arrives at a Singapore Port berth. For short-distance voyages, submissions must be made before the vessel leaves the port. Export applications must be submitted within 24 hours after the vessel departs.

12.Maersk to Introduce Peak Season Surcharge from Asia-Pacific to IMEA


On August 19, Maersk announced that in response to peak season demand, it will introduce a peak season surcharge for dry container cargo transported from the Asia-Pacific region to the Middle East, India, Africa, and other regions (including multiple major ports in India). The surcharge will range from $400 to $650 per container, depending on the destination, and is intended to maintain the quality of its global services. These changes will undoubtedly have a significant impact on international trade and logistics chains.
