2.Air China and China Southern Airlines Release July Operating Data
On August 16, Air China and China Southern Airlines successively released their main operating data for July 2024. Air China's cargo capacity input in July (measured by available cargo ton-kilometers) increased by 15.3% year-on-year and 7.4% month-on-month. Cargo and mail turnover (measured by revenue cargo ton-kilometers) rose by 44.5% year-on-year and fell by 0.4% month-on-month. The cargo load factor was 41.1%, up 8.3 percentage points year-on-year and down 3.2 percentage points month-on-month. Among them, revenue cargo ton-kilometers reached 409.6 million, with 120,798.7 tons of cargo and mail, of which international cargo and mail amounted to 40,537.8 tons.
China Southern Airlines' cargo capacity input in July (measured by available ton-kilometers for cargo and mail) increased by 10.43% year-on-year. Cargo and mail turnover (measured by revenue ton-kilometers for cargo and mail) increased by 16.67% year-on-year. The cargo and mail load factor was 49.36%, up 2.64 percentage points year-on-year. Among them, revenue ton-kilometers for cargo and mail reached 789.4 million, with a cargo and mail volume of 147.82 thousand tons, of which international cargo and mail volume was 73.51 thousand tons.

3.Alibaba Releases Q1 FY2025 Revenue
On August 16, Alibaba announced its revenue for the first quarter of FY2025 (the quarter ending in June). The revenue was RMB 243.24 billion, an increase of 4% year-on-year. Adjusted EBITDA was RMB 51.16 billion, down 1.7% year-on-year. The adjusted earnings per ADS for the first quarter were RMB 16.44.
The International Digital Commerce Group, which includes Lazada, AliExpress, Trendyol, Alibaba.com, and other businesses, generated revenue of RMB 29.293 billion (approximately USD 4.031 billion), a year-on-year increase of 32%. Revenue from Cainiao Network (CSNLL) was RMB 26.811 billion (approximately USD 3.689 billion), a year-on-year increase of 16%. 12.Zhejiang Constructs "Two Hubs, Two Special, One Specialized" International Cargo Airport System
On August 16, the Zhejiang provincial government issued the "Opinions on Building a High-Level Civil Aviation Powerhouse and Creating a Low-Altitude Economic Development Hub" (referred to as "Opinions"). According to the "Opinions," Zhejiang will build an international air cargo airport system with "Two Hubs (Hangzhou Airport, Ningbo Airport), Two Special (Wenzhou Airport, Yiwu Airport), and One Specialized (Jiaxing Nanhu Airport)" to strengthen the coordination of the international air logistics network and industrial chain. The plan also includes establishing a supply-demand docking mechanism for air logistics, guiding and supporting air logistics companies and manufacturing enterprises to go global together, and jointly building overseas cargo stations, transfer centers, and overseas economic and trade cooperation zones, aiming to create a global 72-hour air logistics backbone network.
