1. Eastern Air Logistics Launches New International Cargo Route

 

On September 29, Eastern Airlines launched the "Xi'an-Milan" route, with belly cargo services operated by Eastern Air Logistics, which also provides ground cargo support. This flight carried 331 items weighing 7.5 tons, including electronic products, fashion clothing, and e-commerce goods. Leveraging its European truck service network, Eastern Air Logistics can now reach 20 countries in Europe, opening up cargo transport between China and Europe, further promoting economic cooperation and cultural exchange between the two regions.

2. DHL to Increase 2025 Global Service Prices by 6.9%

 

On September 29, DHL announced that it will adjust global service prices, with an average increase of 6.9%, starting from January 1, 2025. In response to geopolitical volatility and supply chain challenges, DHL South Asia's Senior Vice President, R.S. Subramanian, emphasized the company's commitment to service stability and reliability, noting that the annual price adjustment aims to continue investing in network optimization, enhancing resilience and adaptability. This adjustment takes into account inflation, currency fluctuations, and changing regulatory and security costs. DHL will adjust prices flexibly based on local policies and demands across over 220 countries and regions to ensure efficient and reliable logistics support globally.

3. Amazon Global Logistics Adds Two Exclusive Warehouses

 

On September 29, Amazon Global Logistics (AGL) announced that two major warehouses, ONT2 and ONT6, located in San Bernardino and Moreno Valley, California, have officially become AGL exclusive warehouses and have started receiving shipments. Located within 100 kilometers of the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports, these warehouses are strategically positioned on the U.S. West Coast. The new facilities provide more convenient receipt, faster logistics, and enable sellers using AGL to move their goods more swiftly into the Amazon fulfillment network.

4. YTO to Establish at Least 10 Full Cargo Routes in Zhejiang

 

On September 29, Zhejiang Provincial Airport Group and YTO Group signed an agreement in Hangzhou to jointly build the Jiaxing Yangtze River Delta Air Cargo Hub. Both parties aim to utilize the international full cargo route network to optimize the logistics facilities layout, reduce cross-border logistics costs, and promote the export of Zhejiang's high-quality products. YTO Group will allocate no less than 50% of its fleet's full cargo capacity in Zhejiang and will establish at least 10 full cargo routes to Europe, America, and Southeast Asia.

5. Temu Attracts Amazon Sellers with Discount Strategy  

 

On September 29, Temu announced a sales model that charges U.S. sellers a fixed fee per item and does not charge advertising or logistics fees when sellers handle their own shipping. This move is aimed at attracting sellers dissatisfied with Amazon's high fulfillment service costs. By targeting Amazon sellers, Temu can expand its local seller base, increase U.S. warehouse inventory, diversify product offerings, and speed up delivery times. Currently, about 20% of Temu's total U.S. gross merchandise volume is from products shipped from U.S. warehouses.

6. Cainiao Opens Xiamen Cross-border Merchant Center


On September 29, Cainiao launched its second local merchant center in Xiamen, following the opening of the first in Yiwu in June. The establishment of these centers in major industrial areas of East and South China gives small and medium-sized cross-border merchants a "service center" close to home, offering Cainiao's cost-effective and efficient international courier services. The Xiamen center will provide customized cross-border express services for local exporters, including one-item collection and shipment, and a special line for apparel. It will also support the incubation of merchants in Xiamen Free Trade Zone by connecting with industry partners like Hugo Cross Border.

7. AliExpress Assists Korean Sellers with Cross-border Direct Selling

 

On September 29, Alibaba's cross-border e-commerce platform, AliExpress, announced that it will officially launch a global sales project next month to support Korean sellers with cross-border direct selling. For the first five years, AliExpress will waive storefront and transaction fees, guarantee deposits, and offer free translation services to onboard sellers. The project aims to introduce Korean products to AliExpress' 150 million global consumers and is expected to intensify competition with local e-commerce platforms in the cross-border direct selling market.

8. Amazon Japan Adds 15 New Delivery Stations

 

On September 29, Amazon Japan announced the opening of 15 new delivery stations across Japan, enhancing its last-mile delivery capabilities. These stations will act as the starting point for the last mile, collecting goods ordered by customers from distribution centers (FC) and delivery bases nationwide and delivering them quickly to nearby consumers.

9. Over 3 Million Overseas Buyers Registered on Alibaba 1688

 

On September 29, Lin Jingxian, General Manager of Alibaba 1688's cross-border segment, revealed that more than 3 million overseas buyers are registered on the 1688 platform. The platform's product pool now contains over 200 million SKUs available for overseas sales. Last year, the platform's GMV (Gross Merchandise Volume) approached one trillion yuan, with over 200 billion yuan coming from overseas small B procurement. This year, the cross-border business GMV, number of buyers, and orders have all continued to grow rapidly.

10. Ozon Introduces New Policy Limiting Electronics Sales  

 

On September 29, Ozon announced a new policy that restricts some sellers from selling electronics. Affected sellers include those new to Ozon with fewer than ten successful sales, and those with a high return rate for poor quality products (over 10%). Previously, the platform had closed some categories in June, and now reopening requires FBP (Fulfillment by Platform) warehousing. Sellers who regain sales privileges by selling more than ten items and reducing return rates can resume sales from the realFBS warehouse.

11. Hong Kong's Export Value Rises for Six Consecutive Months

 

On September 29, Hong Kong's Census and Statistics Department reported that the total export value for August 2024 was HKD 381.3 billion, a year-on-year increase of 6.4%, marking six consecutive months of growth. Compared to the same period last year, overall export value to Asia increased by 9.9% in August, with exports to Vietnam rising by 27%, Malaysia by 23.7%, Thailand by 15.3%, the Philippines by 14.5%, and mainland China by 12.9%. Exports to India fell by 20.5% and Singapore by 14.5%. Outside Asia, exports to Switzerland fell by 62% and to the UK by 46.2%.

12. Guangdong, Hainan, and Shenzhen Launch "Parallel Port" Logistics Model

 

On September 29, the cargo ship "Nanhang 757" departed from Zhanjiang Port in Guangdong, stopping at Yangpu Port in Hainan and Shekou Port in Shenzhen to load and consolidate domestic and foreign trade goods before heading to European and Asian countries. This marks the successful start of the pilot "parallel port" logistics model. Once mature, the model is expected to increase ship load rates between the three ports from 30% to as high as 80%, reduce fleet usage by over 50%, and significantly lower container logistics costs, providing new momentum for the coordinated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Hainan Free Trade Port.
