1.FedEx Announces Q2 2025 Fiscal Year Results

 

On December 23, FedEx reported its Q2 fiscal year 2025 results for the period ending November 30, 2024. Total revenue for the quarter was $21.97 billion, down 1% compared to $22.17 billion in the same period last year. Operating income for the quarter was $1.05 billion, a decrease of 18% from $1.28 billion in the same period last year. Net income for the quarter was $740 million, down 18% from $900 million last year.

2. FedEx Plans to Spin Off Freight Division into Independent Public Company

 

On December 23, FedEx announced plans to spin off its freight division into an independent publicly listed company, further advancing CEO Raj Subramaniam's efforts to streamline the parcel giant. The company plans to complete the separation within the next 18 months. In June, FedEx had already mentioned that it was evaluating this business, which led to market speculation about the potential sale or spin-off of the division. Bloomberg Industry Research estimates the freight division’s enterprise value at over $30 billion.

3.SF Express Reports 21% Year-on-Year Growth in International Business for November

 

On December 23, SF Express published its November earnings report. The combined revenue from SF Holdings' express logistics, supply chain, and international businesses was 25.196 billion RMB, a year-on-year increase of 6.73%. The express business generated 18.802 billion RMB in revenue, up 2.45% year-on-year, with 1.277 billion parcels handled, an 8.68% increase. The international and supply chain business earned 6.394 billion RMB, growing by 21.65%.

4.YTO, Yunda, and Shentong Release Latest Earnings

 

On December 23, YTO, Yunda, and Shentong Express announced their latest earnings. YTO Express reported a revenue of 5.828 billion RMB from express products in November, up 9.26% year-on-year, with 2.541 billion parcels completed, a 17.44% increase. The average revenue per parcel was 2.29 RMB, down 6.96% year-on-year. Yunda Express reported express service revenue of 4.598 billion RMB in November, a 0.26% increase, with 2.27 billion parcels handled, up 17.62%. The average revenue per parcel was 2.03 RMB, down 14.71%. Shentong Express reported a revenue of 4.529 billion RMB from express services, up 14.12% year-on-year, with 2.182 billion parcels handled, up 21.13%. The average revenue per parcel was 2.08 RMB, down 5.45%.

5. Temu Launches Semi-Dedicated Traffic Analysis Feature

 

On December 23, Temu launched a new semi-dedicated traffic analysis feature for sellers, aimed at boosting traffic growth in the short term. 6.Amazon Updates Sales Commissions and Fulfillment Fees for European Market

 

On December 23, Amazon announced updates to its sales commissions and fulfillment fees for its European marketplace, effective February 1, 2025. The minimum sales commission for special oversized items shipped via Amazon Fulfillment will drop from £25/€25 to £20/€20. On December 23, a recent consumer trends report by Coefficient Capital and The New Consumer revealed that TikTok Shop has rapidly gained traction in the U.S. market. In November 2023, consumer spending on TikTok Shop surged 158% year-on-year. Over the 12 months from November 2023 to November 2024, the average order value on TikTok Shop was $35, with consumers placing an average of 5.3 orders. The repeat purchase rate on the platform is very high, with 75% of shoppers returning to buy again. Fashion and apparel were the most popular categories, attracting 45% of consumers.

8. Alibaba International Station GMV Grows 30% Year-on-Year Since December

 

On December 23, Alibaba’s international marketplace reported a 30% year-on-year increase in GMV since December. Core metrics such as global traffic and the number of paying buyers saw significant increases. The European market showed the fastest growth, with the number of paying buyers rising nearly 40%. In major European countries such as France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, Alibaba International's B2B ecommerce app for business buyers reached the top five in download rankings, with France even climbing into the top three. 9.Shopee Opens First Logistics Center in Brazil

 

On December 23, Shopee announced the opening of its first logistics center in Manaus, Brazil, to strengthen its logistics network in the Amazon region and improve market delivery efficiency. The expansion aims to optimize "last-mile" delivery services to meet the logistics needs of regional sellers and consumers. In addition to the new Manaus logistics center, Shopee also operates two other logistics centers in Palmas and Belém in the northern region, providing more convenient services for sellers and consumers. 11.China to Become the World’s Largest Aviation Services Market by 2043

 

On December 23, Airbus released its 2024-2043 Global Aviation Services Market Forecast. Airbus predicts that China’s civil aviation services market will surpass North America and Europe over the next 20 years to become the world’s largest aviation services market. Its market value is expected to grow from $23 billion in 2024 to $61 billion by 2043, achieving nearly threefold growth. According to Airbus's global market forecast, by 2043, China’s active fleet will reach 11,160 aircraft, with 9,520 new passenger and cargo aircraft deliveries, accounting for over 20% of global demand. The share of new aircraft replacing the existing fleet will be 26%.

12.Urumqi-Bucharest Regular Cargo Route Launched

 

On December 23, a flight carrying 25 tons of cross-border e-commerce export goods took off from Urumqi Diwopu International Airport heading to Bucharest, the capital of Romania. This marks the official launch of the regular cargo route from Urumqi to Bucharest. The flight, operated by Kazakhstan’s Alpha Sky Airlines, is scheduled to fly twice a week, with a flight time of about nine and a half hours. This new route opens up a new air transport channel between China’s Xinjiang region and the European market.
