2.TEMU Officially Partners with UPS
On January 3, e-commerce platform TEMU officially announced its partnership with UPS, integrating its European logistics system into the online order and shipping process. This collaboration covers major EU countries, including Germany, France, Italy, and Spain, and aims to provide more efficient and cost-effective cross-border logistics services to consumers. A key highlight of this partnership is breaking traditional logistics limits regarding the number of packages: even single-item orders will now benefit from UPS’s door-to-door collection service.
Industry analysts suggest that this cooperation marks an important step in TEMU's deepening presence in the EU market. 3.GuCang Overseas Warehouse Total Area Exceeds 2 Million m²
On January 3, GuCang Overseas Warehouse officially announced that its global storage area has surpassed 2 million m² (≈ 21 million square feet), achieving the goal of the "second million project" ahead of schedule. As of December 31, 2024, the North America warehouse cluster has exceeded 1.3 million m², the Europe warehouse cluster 700,000 m², and the Asia-Pacific warehouse cluster and domestic transit warehouses 150,000 m². GuCang’s total global warehouse area is now close to 2.2 million m². The expansion, which added nearly 1 million m² of new warehouse space, almost "recreated" the GuCang network. Existing warehouses have continued to grow, while new locations have been added in cities like Savannah, Dallas, Houston, Miami in the U.S., and Poland in Europe, significantly upgrading GuCang’s global network layout.

4.Lege Overseas Warehouse Black Friday and Cyber Monday Shipment Volume Increased by 262%
On January 3, Lege Overseas Warehouse reported that its shipment volume during Black Friday and Cyber Monday reached 400,000 units, a 262% year-on-year increase. This was largely attributed to Lege's smart storage solutions, which greatly boosted the warehouse’s order processing capacity. During the 2024 CAP single warehouse Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the shipment volume was equivalent to Lege’s total shipment volume in all warehouses in 2023.

5.Cainiao International Express Launches UK and Germany Dedicated Lines
On January 3, Cainiao International Express launched new dedicated lines to the UK and Germany. With its logistics infrastructure in several European and American countries, Cainiao's international express service has optimized local delivery times, shortening parcel handling, transshipment, and delivery by at least 12 hours, or up to 1 day faster. By improving key link operations such as network connection and final-mile delivery, Cainiao aims to speed up the entire logistics process and deliver parcels to overseas consumers more quickly. Currently, Cainiao International Express covers the U.S., France, Spain, the UK, and Germany, and aims to deliver packages from China to overseas customers within about 10 days.

6.TikTok Shop Plans to Enter the Dutch E-commerce Market
On January 3, TikTok announced plans to enter the Dutch e-commerce market in 2025. In Europe, the app already has 175 million monthly users, with its e-commerce feature, TikTok Shop, launched in the UK, Spain, and Ireland, and currently testing in Italy and Germany. In the UK, 200,000 businesses have opened TikTok accounts, many of which use the platform for live sales. TikTok generates revenue through sales commissions (9% in the UK) and advertising campaigns. It is expected that sales will reach about $17 billion in the first half of 2024, a 60% year-on-year increase.

7.Shopee's Philippines N-Day Delivery Channel Expands to New Areas
On January 3, Shopee Philippines' Express International (N-Day Delivery) channel will extend its service areas to Zone B/Zone C (certain regions) starting January 6, 2025 (local time). Buyers in areas such as Abra, Apayao, Aurora, Benguet, Cagayan, Camarines Norte, Ifugao, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Isabela, Kalinga, La Union, Nueva Vizcaya, Oriental Mindoro, and Pangasinan will be able to use the N-Day Delivery service. 8.E-commerce Platforms Capture 53% of Global Internet Traffic
On January 3, RetailX released a report showing that although e-commerce platforms account for only 30% of the global top 1000 retailers, they attract 53% of the consumer internet traffic, making them a vital bridge between merchants and consumers. Amazon remains the largest beneficiary of online traffic, holding 20% of the market share. The second tier of platforms includes Lanting Jishi (6%), eBay (5%), and AliExpress (3%). Platforms such as Rakuten, Taobao, Etsy, Shopee, and Walmart each account for 1% of traffic, while other platforms collectively account for 26%, showing that there is still considerable diversity and competition in the e-commerce industry.

9.China Logistics Group International Express Launches New Air Freight Route
On January 3, a cargo flight fully loaded with goods took off from Wuxuan Airport and headed for Osaka, Japan. This marks the addition of a new international air cargo route to Wuxuan Airport, following routes to Hanoi, Vietnam, and Incheon, South Korea. This new route is operated by China Logistics Group International Express, with Tianjin Air Cargo providing the service. The flight will operate 5–7 times a week and mainly serve cross-border e-commerce goods, further accelerating the development of Wuxuan Airport as a professional air cargo hub.

10.168 New International Air Freight Routes Opened Nationwide in 2024
On January 3, it was reported that 12 new international air freight routes were opened in December 2024, adding over 37 round-trip flights per week. Cross-border e-commerce goods are the main cargo type on these routes. A total of 168 new international air cargo routes were opened throughout 2024, further expanding China’s international air freight network.

11.Xiaobai Supply Chain Sets Up Los Angeles Overseas Warehouse
On January 3, Xiaobai Supply Chain announced the establishment of its overseas warehouse in Los Angeles. The warehouse is dedicated to providing efficient, convenient, end-to-end digital logistics services for cross-border e-commerce clients, injecting new vitality into domestic cross-border e-commerce businesses. On the day the warehouse was inaugurated, Xiaobai successfully tested a batch of apparel goods, which were shipped from Shenzhen Yantian Port and successfully delivered to the overseas warehouse for final-mile service.

12.CMA CGM Imposes Peak Season Surcharge on West Africa Routes
On January 3, CMA CGM announced that it would impose a peak season surcharge (PSS) on dry containers shipped from China to West Africa’s northern regions. The policy will remain in effect until further notice. A surcharge of $200 per TEU will be applied to dry containers shipped from central and southern China to the northern West African countries, including Liberia, Senegal, Mauritania, The Gambia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde, and São Tomé and Príncipe.
