2. UPS Adjusts Parcel Delivery Model

On January 14, significant changes were announced in the delivery model for UPS SurePost parcels. According to a spokesperson from the UPS drivers' union, SurePost packages are now delivered entirely by UPS drivers instead of being handed off to the U.S. Postal Service. This shift, reflected in updated SurePost information on the UPS website, eliminates references to postal services. The adjustment follows a contractual agreement between UPS and its drivers’ union, granting UPS drivers a larger share of SurePost deliveries. Meanwhile, the U.S. Postal Service is canceling discounts for delivery units through new contracts, pushing companies to upstream parts of its network. The change may lead to increased fees for delivering parcels to remote and rural areas.
