1. Temu’s Five Semi-Managed Sites to Go Live Soon


 On January 21, according to official information from Temu, five semi-managed sites are scheduled to go live soon: Colombia (January 24), Norway (February 14), the Philippines (February 18), the UAE (February 28), and Switzerland (March 5). Additionally, upcoming fully-managed sites include Austria (February 17), Korea (February 21), Japan (February 28), and Canada (March 7).

2.JD Express Reports 30% Growth in Korean Shipments


On January 21, according to JD Express International, since January, there has been a continuous increase in orders for express deliveries from China, particularly from Shanghai to Korea, with order volumes rising by 30%. Last September, JD Express International further expanded express services to Japan and Korea, allowing consumers in both countries to receive packages directly from JD Express in China. Recently, JD Logistics' first warehouse in Tokyo, Japan, has officially begun operations, marking JD's first self-operated overseas warehouse in Japan and Korea. Over the next 2-3 years, JD Logistics will continue to expand its network of self-operated overseas warehouses and establish international routes linking multiple countries, aiming to create a "2-3 day delivery" efficiency zone across the Asia-Pacific region.

3.SF Asia Signs New Cooperation Agreement


On January 21, Shenzhen SF International Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. (referred to as "SF Asia") and China Unicom's Nanning Branch (referred to as "Nanning Unicom") signed a strategic cooperation agreement for cross-border trade services in Nanning, Guangxi. The agreement designates SF Asia as Nanning Unicom’s sole logistics partner, providing comprehensive logistics services for the China-ASEAN cross-border e-commerce service platform, co-developed by the government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Nanning Unicom. This collaboration leverages SF Asia's strengths in cross-border logistics, combining them with Nanning Unicom’s communication technology to create an efficient and convenient cross-border service platform, injecting strong momentum into regional economic development.

4.YTO Express and Yunda Express Release Latest Performance


 On January 21, YTO Express reported that in December, its express delivery product revenue reached 6.044 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.75%, with business volume growing by 23.49% to 2.645 billion packages. The revenue per package for express delivery products was 2.29 yuan. Yunda Express reported December revenue of 4.696 billion yuan from its express delivery services, a year-on-year increase of 7.41%, with business volume growing by 18.92% to 2.319 billion packages. Revenue per package for express delivery services was 2.03 yuan.

5. Amazon Ranks First in U.S. E-commerce for 2024


On January 21, the e-commerce data analysis website ECDB released the 2024 ranking of U.S. e-commerce platforms. Among the top five most competitive platforms, Amazon remains the most unchallenged, continuing to hold the top spot. Walmart, ranked second, has solidified its market position by adopting Amazon’s operational model and is unlikely to face significant threats from emerging competitors in the near term.

6. TikTok Accelerates E-commerce Expansion in the Netherlands


On January 21, TikTok announced that it is accelerating its e-commerce expansion in the Netherlands, aiming to become a significant player in the Dutch e-commerce market by 2025. In Europe, TikTok has 175 million monthly active users, and its e-commerce feature, TikTok Shop, has been operational in the UK for nearly two years, with rollouts also in Spain, Ireland, and tests underway in Italy and Germany. By the end of 2023, TikTok had 15 million active users, with the number of social shops increasing by 6 million. TikTok is expected to reach sales of approximately $17 billion in the first half of 2024, a 60% year-on-year growth.

7. Global Cross-border Delivery Times Shortened in 2024


On January 21, the latest edition of the 2024 "IPC Cross-border E-commerce Shopper Survey" revealed that global cross-border delivery times have shortened. Only 10% of respondents stated that it took 15 days or more for packages to arrive from the time of purchase, down from 17% in 2023. Delivery speeds are influenced by the market distance of the purchased goods. Consumers purchasing from neighboring countries typically receive their packages faster, while those buying from more distant markets face longer wait times. Notably, while cross-border parcel volumes from China have increased, the proportion of packages taking more than 15 days has dropped dramatically from 29% in 2020 to 9% in 2024, showcasing significant improvements in China's logistics efficiency.

8.“Ezhou-Milan” International Cargo Route Inaugurated


On January 21, a Boeing 767 freighter operated by Georgia’s Gio Aviation landed at Ezhou Huahu International Airport, loaded with cargo, and departed for Milan Malpensa Airport at around 7:00 PM, marking the launch of the "Ezhou-Milan" international cargo route. The route operates as a full cargo regular service, with 2 to 3 flights per week, managed by Wuhan Financial Holding’s Changmao Huahu Supply Chain Platform. It covers categories such as cross-border e-commerce, high-tech electronics, industrial goods, luxury fashion, and wine, providing stable capacity support for trade between China and Europe.

9.Shandong Opens Its First Full-Cargo Route to Central Europe


 On January 21, a Boeing 767 freighter, flight number C67685, successfully landed at Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport, marking the opening of the Qingdao-Tashkent-Ostrava full-cargo route. The route is operated by Uzbekistan's Central Asia Airways and is Shandong province’s first cargo route to Central Europe. It primarily transports high-value goods such as automotive parts, electronic components, and industrial machinery.

10.Maersk Updates Peak Season Surcharges in Certain Regions 


On January 21, Maersk announced updates to its peak season surcharges (PSS) for shipments from Brunei, East China, South China, North China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand to ports in Jawaharlal Nehru, Mundra, and Pipavav, India, as well as ports in Pakistan. This update applies to all 20’, 40’, and 45’ dry containers, effective from January 21, 2025.

11.Guangzhou’s Foreign Trade Value Reaches 1.12 Trillion Yuan in 2024 


On January 21, Guangzhou reported that its foreign trade value reached 1.12 trillion yuan in 2024, setting a new record and growing by 3% year-on-year. Of this, export value was 700.55 billion yuan, up by 7.8%. New quality production power has driven sustained growth in exports. In 2024, exports of manufacturing products from Guangzhou increased by 8.7%, while exports of high-tech products grew by 9.7%. Cross-border e-commerce retail exports, mainly daily consumer goods, increased by nearly 20%.

12.Shenzhen’s Foreign Trade Surpasses 4.5 Trillion Yuan in 2024


On January21, Shenzhen Customs announced that in 2024, the city’s foreign trade exceeded 4.5 trillion yuan for the first time, a year-on-year increase of 16.4%. Of this, exports totaled 2.81 trillion yuan, a 14.6% increase, achieving 32 consecutive years as the top exporter. Imports totaled 1.69 trillion yuan, up by 19.6%.
