1. Top 25 Global Freight Forwarding Companies List Released  


On September 5, Armstrong & Associates (A&A), a leading U.S. third-party logistics consulting company, released the top 25 global freight forwarding companies list. The ranking is based on the 2023 logistics companies’ total logistics revenue/turnover. The top ten companies are Kuehne+Nagel (1st), DHL (2nd), DSV (3rd), DB Schenker (4th), Sinotrans (5th), Nippon Express (6th), CEVA Logistics (7th), C.H. Robinson (8th), Expeditors (9th), and Kerry Logistics and GEODIS (tied for 10th).  


Notably, five Chinese companies made the top 25: Sinotrans (5th), Kerry Logistics (10th), China Merchants Logistics (16th), CIMC SLT (19th), and OOCL Logistics (21st).

2.A Cross-border Logistics Company Plans to List on Nasdaq  


On September 5, Eastern International, a domestic and cross-border logistics provider in China, filed for an initial public offering (IPO) with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), planning to list on Nasdaq under the stock code ELOG. The company aims to raise up to $7 million by offering 1.6 million shares at a price range of $4 to $5 per share. Based on the midpoint of the proposed range, Eastern International’s valuation would reach $54 million.  


Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Hangzhou, Eastern International provides domestic and cross-border logistics services, including project and general logistics, through Suzhou TC-Link. The company has a strong presence in China and is expanding into Southeast Asia.

3. SF Express Ranks in 2024 China's Best Brands


On September 5, Interbrand released its "2024 Best China Brands" list. The total brand value of those listed reached 3.37126 trillion yuan, with over 60% of the brands seeing value growth. In the courier sector, SF Express ranked 27th with a value of 16.838 billion yuan, while ZTO Express ranked 47th with a value of 8.805 billion yuan.  


In the e-commerce sector, Alibaba retained its second place with a brand value of 657.296 billion yuan, followed by Pinduoduo (20th, 27.421 billion yuan) and JD.com (22nd, 23.856 billion yuan).

4. Hai Cheng Bang Da Sees 58% Revenue Growth in H1  


On September 5, Hai Cheng Bang Da (603836.SH) released its 2024 half-year report, showing a revenue of 4.513 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 58.2%. Net profit attributable to shareholders reached 71.25 million yuan, up 1.18%, while non-recurring profit increased by 14.23%. Earnings per share were 0.35 yuan.

5. China Operates Over 20,000 International Cargo Flights in H1


On September 5, it was reported that China maintained scheduled cargo flights with 48 destinations across 42 countries in the first half of 2023. The total number of flights increased by 6%, exceeding 26,000. Additionally, there were 3,300 unscheduled cargo flights transporting electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and photovoltaic products globally. This figure represents a 9% increase from the previous year and an 850% growth from 2019. In H1 2023, China's civil aviation sector handled 47 billion ton-kilometers of air cargo, a 16% year-on-year growth.

6. Saudi Arabia Plans to Establish a New Cargo Airline  


On September 5, it was reported that the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), the world’s largest sovereign wealth fund, is planning to establish a new cargo airline to transform Saudi Arabia into a major logistics hub, similar to Dubai and Doha. PIF has held preliminary talks with Boeing, Airbus, and aircraft leasing companies to purchase Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 cargo aircraft. This new airline will handle the cargo operations of Saudia and Riyadh Air.

7. Shopee to Establish Six New Logistics Centers in Brazil


On September 5, Shopee announced plans to set up six new logistics centers in the Brazilian states of Minas Gerais and Bahia to expand last-mile delivery coverage and further accelerate delivery speeds. The company did not disclose the investment amount for this plan. Shopee already operates 19 logistics facilities in Minas Gerais, and in Bahia, it currently has six logistics distribution centers.

8. JD’s Ochama Offers Next-day Pickup in France  


On September 5, JD.com’s European omni-channel retail brand Ochama announced the further expansion of its pickup point network in the Paris area. From September 2, consumers in this region can enjoy next-day pickup services. In addition, some products in France are available for next-day delivery. Since the beginning of the year, Ochama's orders in France have grown by 172% year-on-year.

9. Shopify Launches Automated Privacy Settings


On September 5, Shopify launched a new automated privacy settings feature. This tool allows all merchants to easily manage and maintain their privacy settings while ensuring compliance with Shopify's standards, helping build customer trust through transparency. The privacy settings will automatically update based on changes to store settings and compliance standards.

10. Ozon Introduces New Logistics Solution


On September 5, Ozon, in collaboration with logistics partners, introduced a new logistics solution that groups goods by price and weight, significantly reducing shipping costs. The new pricing standard is expected to reduce logistics costs for Chinese sellers by an average of 20% to 30%, enabling them to expand product offerings and boost sales performance.

11. MSC Adjusts SANTANA Service Route


On September 5, MSC announced adjustments to its CARIOCA service route to provide extensive direct port connections and competitive transit times. The service will reduce the number of port calls, with a direct route from Asia to Cristobal. The new PECEM feeder service will connect Manaus (via Salvador), enhancing connectivity. The first voyage is expected to depart from Yantian, China, on September 14, 2024, with the MSC DOUALA VIII on voyage UX437A.

12. Shenzhen Port Logistics Group Establishes First Overseas Warehouse  


On September 5, Shenzhen Port Group’s logistics subsidiary successfully launched its first overseas warehouse project at the Port of Zeebrugge in Belgium. The Port of Antwerp and Zeebrugge merged in 2022 to form the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, which ranks 14th among the world’s top 100 container ports and is Europe’s largest export port and automobile transshipment hub. The overseas warehouse project covers approximately 35,000 square meters, with a prime location and complete infrastructure.
