1. Global Freight Forwarder Announces New Acquisition


On December 25, Scan Global Logistics, known as the "freight forwarder harvest machine," announced the acquisition of ITN Logistics Group, a leading private Canadian freight forwarding company. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025. ITN provides a full suite of global logistics solutions across transportation modes. This acquisition will strengthen Scan Global's presence in Canada by expanding its scale, increasing locations, and increasing market share.

2. DHL Forms a New Joint Venture


On December 25, DHL announced that its subsidiary, DHL eCommerce, has established a strategic partnership with Portugal’s leading parcel delivery company, CTT Expresso. The two companies will jointly form a new joint venture to create the most extensive pickup and delivery network in Spain and Portugal. To consolidate the partnership, DHL eCommerce acquired a 25% stake in CTT Expresso Portugal, and CTT Group acquired a 25% stake in DHL eCommerce Spain. Both parties may increase their respective shareholding to 49% in the future. In Spain, the focus will be on B2B business, with CTT Express shifting its focus to B2C services. This will create an efficient network for parcel handling and last-mile delivery, enhancing customer experience across the Iberian Peninsula.

3.SF Express H-shares Added to Hong Kong Stock Connect


On December 25, SF Holdings announced that its H-shares (foreign-listed shares) were included in the list of securities eligible for trading under the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect and Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect starting December 23. Additionally, the stabilization period for the global offering of these shares ended on December 22 (30 days after the closing date for Hong Kong public offering applications).

4. Temu Opens Platform to Dutch Local Entrepreneurs


On December 25, Temu officially accepted its first batch of local Dutch entrepreneurs to join its platform. Dutch sellers can quickly register through Temu Seller Center and start selling, with the opportunity to expand their reach to other European markets including Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. Notably, although Temu currently does not have a warehouse in the Netherlands, this is expected to change soon. 5. Amazon Reminds Sellers to Update Country of Origin Information

7. Ozon Launches Largest Logistics Center in the Region

On December 25, Ozon launched the first phase of its largest logistics center in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan, significantly reducing delivery times and driving regional economic development. Once the facility is operational, delivery times in Almaty and surrounding areas will be shortened to one day. 9. Wildberries Sees Fivefold Increase in Sales of Large Goods


On December 25, Wildberries, a Russian e-commerce platform, reported that the sales of large goods such as furniture, home appliances, and building materials grew fivefold from January to November 2023. This significant increase is attributed to improved freight services. Wildberries' logistics system now supports the direct delivery of large goods from warehouses or manufacturers to the buyer’s floor, simplifying the shopping process and boosting customer purchase intent. In 2024, Wildberries' delivery service will be expanded to 56 cities in Russia, including the North Caucasus and Far East regions.

10. Cathay Pacific’s Cargo Volume Increases by 15% in November


On December 25, Cathay Pacific announced a 15% year-on-year increase in air cargo volume in November. The airline transported 142,601 tons of cargo in November, a 15% increase compared to November 2023. Cargo revenue ton-kilometers (RFTKs) rose 11.9%, while the load factor increased by 1.2 percentage points to 62.3%. The available freight ton-kilometers (AFTKs) also grew by 9.8% as capacity continued to return to the market. From January to November, the airline's cargo tonnage increased by 10.9% to 1,388,501 tons, while AFTKs increased by 8.9% and RFTKs grew by 4.8%.

11. Shenzhen’s Foreign Trade Exceeds 4 Trillion Yuan for the First Time


On December 25, Shenzhen Customs announced that the city’s foreign trade reached 4.11 trillion yuan in the first 11 months of 2024, a 17.4% year-on-year increase, surpassing the total trade volume for the previous year and setting a new historical high. Exports amounted to 2.59 trillion yuan, an increase of 16%, while imports were 1.52 trillion yuan, up 19.8%. Shenzhen's foreign trade contributed about 81% of Guangdong Province's growth and accounted for 33% of the national increase. The rapid development of cross-border e-commerce has solidified Shenzhen’s position as the "Cross-border E-commerce Capital."

12. Hapag-Lloyd to Cancel CGX Route


On December 25, Hapag-Lloyd announced the cancellation of its CGX route between China and Germany starting in February 2024. This move is aimed at alleviating concerns about the Gemini Cooperation's ability to operate with sufficient vessels.
